| While my friend Aaron is on Christmas vacation in the Midwest, I am looking in on his cat Max periodically. Max is a very social cat, and is a pretty garden-variety specimenm of tabby in most ways. But he does have one idiosyncrasy that I had not seen in a feline before. Max prefers to drink running water. The first thing he does when I get to the house is run to the upstairs bathroom and sit on the sink, meowing like a maniac. As soon as I turn the faucet on, he is very content and purrs between sips. |

Our male cat, Binka, does exactly this same thing! They have their own bathroom - spoiled things that he and Suki are - and I keep a dish of water in the sink. This is the only source from which they will both drink. But Binka, additionally, prefers to have running water several times per day, and he's ALMOST learned to turn the faucet on himself! He bats at the water with his paw, even collecting some within his outspread paw which he then drinks - out of his paw! It's the best entertainment ever!!
